Lubbock leaders express varied opinions on the reclassification of marijuana

Texas Tech University | Sports Update

  • Two Texas Tech Red Raiders were selected in the fourth and seventh rounds of the NFL drafts last weekend. Defensive back Dadrion Taylor-Demerson was chosen as the Arizona Cardinals’ fourth round pick while outside linebacker Myles Cole was chosen as the Jacksonville Jaguars’ seventh round pick. The Lubbock Community Theatre is debuting a production of Legally Blonde, Jr. this weekend. The popular musical centers on the story of Elle Woods, a fashion student who finds her footing in pursuit of a law degree at Harvard, with poppy songs and belty tunes.

Cats & Dogs The Exhibition @ Science Spectrum, 10 AM

Visit an immersive attraction all about your favorite furry friends at the Science Spectrum! There, you can learn about canine and feline body types, personalities, physical skills, and more. Head to the Louise Hopkins Underwood Center for Arts for First Friday Art Trail. It’s a free, self-guided tour through the Lubbock Cultural District. There will be live music, food trucks, and most importantly, art! The fun event occurs on the first Friday of every month.

Saturday: 12th Annual Cinco do Mayo Parade

Celebrate Cinco de Mayo this weekend with Hermanos Familia and Latino Lubbock Magazine! This year’s theme is “!Celebrating Our Roots, Celebrando nuestras raíces!” The parade will begin on Avenue V and move east on Broadway to the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center.
