The Daily Scoop | Lubbock sets record for hottest February 21
The 85-degree weather on Wednesday set a new record for the hottest February 21, knocking the 84-degree date in 1996. Read more here.

Leap Day Fun at Stella’s Restaurant
On Leap Day, Feb. 29, Stella’s Restaurant will host a mixer in celebration of the holiday. Leap Day occurs every four years. Learn more about the upcoming event here.
National Cellular Shutdown
Around 4 AM yesterday, cellular carriers like Verizon, Cricket, and AT&T shut down across the nation. The sudden outage affected 75,000 AT&T users before 10 AM and hit higher populated cities like Los Angeles, Atlanta, and Houston. Read more here.

Regional playoffs and quarterfinals for girls’ and boys’ basketball continue. Here are the latest scores and upcoming games!
Girls’ basketball
During the Region I-1A seminfinals tournament, Nazareth goes head to head against Whiteface on Friday at South Plains College, 1 PM.
Borden County plays McLean on Friday at 2:30 PM.
Finals are on Saturday at South Plains College, 2 PM.

Texas Tech University | Sports Update
TTU will host the upcoming Big 12 Indoor Tournament for Track and Field. The competition sets off today at the Sports Performance Center.

This weekend, the women’s tennis team will compete in the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic in Alabama.
The Red Raiders’ baseball team plays Texas Southern this weekend in Rip Griffin Stadium, 2 PM.

Fun for the Whole Family | Lubbock, TX Upcoming Events
Crafternoons
On the last Friday of every month starting at 2 PM, join the Hodges Community Center for relaxing afternoons filled with crafting! Although the projects are meant for children aged 6 to 12, the whole family is welcome to participate! Classes are $3 per month. Pre-registration is required.
Karate Tots and Kids
Kids can learn the art of karate at the Maxey Community Center. Each Saturday, students will start with the basics and learn more advanced skills as time goes on. For ages 3 to 4, Karate Tot classes begin at 9:15 AM. For older students aged 5-13, Karate Kid classes begin at 10 AM. Pay $15 per class, or $15 a month for unlimited classes. Mothers and Babies Class
New and expecting moms can learn how to manage stress during Mahon Library’s new six-week session program. The program begins on Monday, Feb. 26 at 10 AM. To register, call the Parenting Cottage at (806) 795-7552.
